We can clearly distinguish between two different zones in Oza dos Ríos. The most septentrional one can be fit in the region of "As Mariñas". It is cross by two rivers: Mero and Mandeo; south, the landscape changes and the number of inhabitants diminishes. Moreover, there are Mountains that rise above 500m at some points (Pena Moura: 554m high, Cruce da Queimada: 526m high, Brueiro: 527m high).
The relief is very uneven because the two rivers cross deep valleys. The one of Mendo is depopulated and with leafy vegetation, while the Mero´s one is much more cosy.
From an hydrologic point of view we can distinguish, though they're not complete, three main hydrographic sources: those of Mero, Mendo and Teo Rivers.
The name of this council is due to the strong presence of rivers. In the town-planning information we comment the importance of the riverside vegetation, with autochtonous species, which are very important for the maintenance and consolidation of the riversides.
The pressence of water mills and trekking routes make these places reference points of special value.
Related to the Miñatos river,, a tributary of Mendo river, there are the Mountains of Gato, which its summit reaches the highest altitude figures in this council (over 500m high).
From a geographical point of view, you can recognize three different areas:
1.- High plane zone, south and southeast Rodeiro, from
A Ventosa to A Queimada and from o Brueiro to
Mato's Edge.
2.- High zones with deep and enclosed valleys, mainly on
the western Cat's Mountain face.
3.- Wavy zones with light gradual slopes, mostly on the
east and center of the council. These two zones are
separated by a gentle rise of the land that forms the
Patarelo Port.
The average height is of 200m: ranging from Roibeira's 40m to Pena Moura's 554 m.
The weather: Wet Atlantic weather, with an average temperature of 12ºC and a rainfall rate of 850 to 1750 mm/year.
